The Prep School aims to build on those foundations which were laid in the Pre-Prep and prepare the children for a successful transition to Senior School. Nevertheless, we must never forget that the Prep School pupils are just children. Therefore much emphasis is placed on achieving a balanced life for them where they are encouraged to work hard, but also enjoy the pleasures of childhood.
The children should leave the Prep School and move on to a senior school which is right for them. This process of acquiring the correct target school requires much thought and input. We take many factors into consideration when steering pupils towards the move at 11+ and 13+. A child needs to feel challenged at their Senior School but they also need to feel secure and that they can cope. Academic ability, social skills, creative talents, sporting prowess are among the factors taken into account when choosing the next steps. Single-sex, co-education, boarding versus day are also considerations which the experienced team in the Prep School will address along with the parents. Some, of course, will remain with us and attend Fulham Senior School.
All children are encouraged to play a full part in school life. The vast array of clubs and activities on offer means that each child can begin to develop a passion. Their time in the Prep School sees the pupils begin to make that transition from small children to young teenagers, ready for Senior School.
